Probably only eleven people saw this film when released at the cinema due to the seemingly downbeat subject matter. What a shame. A good script, great acting (Rickman eclipses Weaver's showy performance with a turn reminiscent of Tom Cruise's contribution to Rain Man) and beautiful cinematography makes Snow Cake a film that just melts in the mouth.
