Review of Snow Cake (2006) by Brandon S — 25 Jan 2008
The film never makes the mistake of insulting the audience's intelligence or being overly sentimental, which films about mentally disabled people very often do. The cast is absolutely stellar, from the quiet beautiful Carrie-Ann Moss, to the ponderous and sensitive Alan Rickman, to the wonderfully nuanced and never looked-down upon Sigourney Weaver.
As a whole, the film functions as a wonderfully beautiful little tale that is not afraid to laugh, cry, and dream.
