Review of Snatched (2017) by Richard S — 04 Mar 2018
The problem with most of the comedic efforts of Hollywood these days is all of the best jokes are usually in the trailers and none of them stand up to repeat viewings because they usually just go for the shock or cringe factor with might rise a one off laugh but without decent writing fail to stand the test of time.
All of my favourite comedy movies are from the 80's or 90's, I can't think of any past 2000 that I go back to. This had the potential to be a decent comedic adventure in an 80's throwback kinda way but it failed miserably.
The film walks the thin line between mildly amusing and intently annoying. Amy Schumer writes funny stand up shows and she was ok in Trainwreck but so far evidence would suggest she might want to stay away from the movies and Goldie Hawn despite being a fine comedic actress from years gone by, here is given nothing worthy of her past performances.
To give it some credit, it wasn'y so bad that I switched it off but as the credits rolled I did feel like I had just had 1 hour 40mins snatched from me :o(.
