Review of Smokey and the Bandit (1977) by Andrew P — 10 Jan 2013
This movie is actually a 2 for 1 entertainment deal. In its original form its a fun movie. The real star of this movie is Jackie Gleason. In the movie, he more or less adlibbed the foulest, most crude things he could think of for pretty much every line of dialogue that he had.
That leads to the second form of entertainment from this movie. In the edited for tv version, they had to heavily edit Gleason's lines. For some reason, they chose a voiceover guy that sounds just like Fred Flintsone to do it.
So you get the treat of imagining Fred Flintstone in the role of Bufor T. Justice. I have the original movie on DVD, but I kind of wish I had the edited for tv version...
