Review of Smiley Face (2007) by Anna-Stiina L — 30 Jan 2009

This film about a girl who gets high and has a list of errands to run all over town and the crazy hi-jinks she gets into. This film was originally supposed to star Winona Ryder thank god she didnâ??t it would really have been a how low the mighty have fallen. This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen itâ??s not funny for one minute. I really wonder that since this is a stoner movie if maybe the filmmakers werenâ??t using the real stuff on the film because this film is unfocused it just seems to lumber from one scene to the next with no style or humor or sense.

The film has plenty of set-ups that could have gone somewhere and actually been at least humorous but it spoils every chance. Even the various cameos donâ??t work you just start wondering why they would subject themselves to this embarrassment. Itâ??s my fault I am a follower of Greg Araki films who is able to make good films but he more often then not makes horrible ones(The Doom Generation, The Living End, Totally Fucked Up) and cameos are a regular signature of his films. but after he made the Masterpiece that was â??Mysterious Skinâ?? I thought he would take care of his career and choose wisely when it came to material this is a major step down back into why he needed a comeback in the first place.

It also sinks whatever little hope I had in anna farisâ??s career I hope this is just a tiny misstep and chooses wisely I know she wants to be a comedy star but donâ??t just take anything. Doing all those scary movie sequels was bad enough but een those were better then this script.
