Review of Smiley Face (2007) by Kim W — 07 Jun 2009
The cast of this movie is amazing. Every actor in this is a very talented actor in a part for which they were well cast. Everyone gives good performances in their roles. Anna Faris may be the only female who can believably headline a genuinely funny comedy.
The directing is very good, and some of the sequences are brilliantly staged. And yet, despite all the good aspects of this movie, it just doesn't amount to much. It takes a pot head on a journey, but doesn't really end anywhere.
No lessons learned for the characters or the audience. Maybe that is avoiding the Hollywood cliche', and makes this movie edgy. But for me, that just makes this a futile exercise.
