Review of Smiles of a Summer Night (1955) by Jared K — 26 Dec 2007
Definitely a side of Bergman that i'm not used to. Although a comedy, it still has an interesting theme. It displays the way love is interpreted amongst both a younger and an older generation. Even though the film was made 50 years ago, I feel that Bergman nails the subject with a fair amount of accuracy, or so it seems to me.
Not the most profound of Bergman's work, but still enjoyable, and of caliber.
