Review of Smiles of a Summer Night (1955) by Paul D — 31 Jul 2008
Contains some some of Bergman's sharpest dialogues. this pretty-brilliant film is still heavily thematic, pondering the selfishness of love with its battle of the sexes, men uncertain of what they want vs.
women who can't get what they truly want. this is a great story and while it's melancholiness is nowhere near his darkest works, it's still as wonderful.
