Review of Smart People (2008) by Nalina M — 12 Jan 2009
All I can say is "why"? Why was it made? Why did any of the characters do anything they did? Why did they think we would be interested? I was momentarily charmed by the uncle-niece relationship, but beyond that, it was kind of a wash.
The central romance in the movie was so badly conceived as to be laughable. Dennis Quaid's character is so crusty that there was almost nothing redeeming about him at all. nothing, certainly to (believably) keep a hot, younger doctor coming back for more.
There were a few nice bits of camera work and some interesting silent transition scenes, but for the most part I was numb to the whole thing.
