Review of Smart People (2008) by Tomoe S — 11 Feb 2013
Nothing happens, you could take it as poignant or different; I took it as boring. It's by no means a bad movie (fine performances, clever writing, direction, etc.), it just isn't an entertaining one.
Church and Quaid both had a lot of fun with their roles and were great, while Ellen Page does a bitchier Juno and Parker plays with her tits somewhere in the background. There was also this strange choice of choosing a shitload of lame songs that felt like an executive choice to somehow sell a soundtrack.
Smart People aren't as entertaining as the dumb ones.
