Review of Smart People (2008) by Anastasia B — 04 Oct 2009
I have watched this film just because of Ellen Page and she didn't let me down. It's obvioius why she became the soul of the whole story- it feels like everyone in the cast itself is in awe of her talent.
Thomas Haden Church stands up to her standard, As for the rest of them, you would think that experienced actors & actresses, like Dennis Quaid, and Sarah Jessica Parker would actually be able to do something with their role.
Especially Parker looks like a fish out of the pond. I can't for the life of me, understand what's wrong with her. It seems that everything she does except Sex and the City is bleak and boring.
Is she so eager to get rid of her Carrie Brandshaw persona, so, she's choosing these small independent productions aiming for amplitude? Death and grief may look good on Kirsten Stewart, but not on Sarah Jessica, who should really re-examine her priorities.
