Review of Small Time Crooks (2000) by Paul P — 10 Jul 2009
A pretty funny flick that has a nice story and some great characters.
The only thing that I couldn't buy into was Woody as a jail bird, but this was quite minor. The way that the story changes track about half way through is unexpected and it also flows quite well. What I really liked about this was the clueless nature of every character except for one. Hugh Grant is a lot of fun as he schools Tracy Ullman in the art of climbing the social ladder. I also loved Michael Rappaport. His characters declaration that he "doesn't do fractions" cracks me up even now...
If you are not a fan of Woody, then this will not convert you, but it's gentle ribbing nature made this a good watch in my books.
