Review of Small Time Crooks (2000) by Harsh C — 18 Mar 2014
Woody Allenwrote directed and starred in this average comedy about a group of doofus criminals who hatch a pln to open a cookie shop as a front while they secretly dig a tunnel to a bank to rob it. The plan backfires when the cookie shop actually becomes a legitimate success.
That premise is pretty great...but it then trns into a story about them trying to blend into high society, and then its about losing it all and ending up back where they started...it just felt like it didn't stay focused or something.
It had some genuine laughs but as Woody Allen comedies go he has done better.
