Review of Slumberland (2022) by Iggyk0 — 23 Nov 2022
This is a sham movie for the woke crowd, pandering by changing the Windsor McKay classic comic strip from the early 1900s about a little boy who goes to a mystical slumber land and usually falls dramatically out of bed as his dreams resolve.
I highly advise watching the 90's classic take Little Nemo in Slumberland, which was previously worked on by Studio Ghibli staff (Totoro, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, etc) before they'd formed as a studio. It's muchore true to the source.
This movie opts to do a gender swap on the protagonist, and goes for the hunky Hawaiian sensation Jason Mamoa and smears the character Flip unrecognizable. Slumberland in the original had beautiful Victorian theming that could have been a spectacle but this has been washed of all original ideas for a cash grab. Directed by Francis Lawrence who also ruined the film adaptation of I am Legend w/ race swaps and story twists killing all original character of an amazing property.
Save your time and money unless you want to have a wine spritzer and foam at the mouth over Jason Mamoa as he's the only good part, but is completely irrelevant to the source.
