It's remarkable that a movie that is indeed slow and low budget is still intriguing to watch. It takes the Western and removes the typecast untouchable gunslinger and instead focuses on the interactions of people.

Who are both good and bad lost together in an uncertain and lonely frontier. It's a black comedy no doubt and I was caught off guard several times when I didn't expect to laugh out loud with some of the random moments.

Slow West captures a sort of confused wonder at unfamiliar surroundings and people that cross paths with each other forming unlikely alliances because they don't see other people very often and the vastness of the landscape and loneliness gets the best of them.

From the beginning I caught the foreshadowing and predicted the end but throughout the movie I started guessing a few other possible scenarios as the characters interacted so I did like the fact that it kept me guessing.

There was a lot of subtle symbolism and some not so subtle symbolism...the salt was a bit of overkill. Otherwise though this was a pleasant surprise.
