Review of Sliver (1993) by Leia C — 15 Jun 2007
I don't know whether Ira Levin (who also wrote Rosemary's Baby, Stepford Wives, and The Boys From Brazil) is a brilliant social commentator or a cheap hack. I've also read the book Sliver, and while they try to bring up issues of privacy and surveillance in modern times, somehow they fall short of really exploring such issues in a truly thoughtful way.
The ending to the film was abrupt and inadequate, even worse than the book's ending with its overdramatic action sequence. Sharon Stone was hot in it, though.
