For those of you who have read my review of When Harry met Sally, you will know that I really like that one becasue it caters to both men and women. both sexes have something in that film that they can enjoy and relate to. this one has nothing of the sort for men. It is all for the ladies. Although, there is one exception./ there is one line (one line in the entire film) that would make men smile. it is my favorite line in the film. Tom Hanks is having dinner with a friend and his wife and they are discussing a film called An Affair to Remember. the wife starts crying about how touching it is. Tom Hanks then says something to the effect of "well, I don't know a guy who didn't cry at the end of The Dirty Dozen" and then Tom Hanks and his friend pretend to cry about the ending while pointing out specific moments. hilarious. It's my favorite part of the film. The film is decently well made. not too many flaws. although, I knock it down to a 60% for a few reasons. !. it is just like every chick flick in the period between 1990-today, 2. Meg Ryan is a complete stalker in this one. plus, she plays the same character that she always plays. there is nothing new about her performance at all. 3. they meet each other at the very end and suddenly that's it. they're totally in love. how unrealistic. The film was well made but kind of ridiculous. As far as chick flicks go, you could do worse I suppose.

TRIVIA TIME:1. The scene between Tom Hanks and Victor Garber pretending to cry over the movie The Dirty Dozen was completely improvised during the take.

2. A pre-"Seinfeld" reference to the real-life "Soup Nazi": A male journalist is speaking as Meg Ryan enters an office at her newspaper, saying, "...he's the meanest guy in the world, but he makes the best soup you've ever eaten.".
