Review of Sleep Dealer (2008) by Delphine C — 19 Jun 2009
A compelling dystopian romantic sci-fi thriller. This political fable is about the possible near-future water war in southwestern North America taken to ridiculous extremes. Despite the low budget the effects were well done and do a good job to carry the story along.
Some of the plot and premise was heavy handed and predictable but not enough to ruin the show. A simple primal storyline with lots of strong emotions like betrayal, fear, regret and redemption. A good Father's day fable.
There were subtitles for those of us who do not speak Spanish. If you liked Blade Runner, The Handmaid's Tale, Robocop, The Matrix or Traffic you will probably like this movie.
