Review of Slaughterhouse-Five (1972) by Amber A — 15 Dec 2008
Despite the quote I found on wikipedia from kurt vonnegut jr. who said that this film was "a flawless translation of [his] novel to the silver screen," I think it proved to be a mediocre work as both a film and a film adaptation of a great novel.
I suppose I read the novel incorrectly, because I swear the movie inaccurately portrays the tone and humor of the novel. the scenes depicting Tralfamadore were especially disappointing. as a film, there were definitely some moments where it surpassed itself but for the most part I was not impressed.
