Review of Slaughter High (1986) by Jason D — 17 Apr 2009
Slaughter High is definitely a lost "gem" from the 80's that manages to excel in the slasher horror genre and be just as fun (and entertaining to watch) alongside other such cult slashers like The Burning, Madman, and My Bloody Valentine.
The story is about a rather annoying group of troublemakers who play a particularly nasty trick no Marty, the school nerd. Not only does the lead girl (Caroline Munroe) convince him to come into the girls' locker room and get naked in the shower, but everything is caught on tape (including his willy).
They continue their tortures by giving him nude swirlies, bad pot, and then screwing with his chemisty set, thus causing a fire and acid falling on his face. Marty is burned and mauled in the process.
Now, 5 years have passed, the group has gone on with their lives, but they've all been invited back to their 10-year reunion, where Marty is waiting, and it's not going to be pretty. In fact, most of the deaths are quite good, as they manage to be both squeamish and gory at times.
There's also a hint of female nudity, which is always welcomed. For those of us that have come to terms that greedy film executives will NEVER release the old Friday the 13th films uncut and gore-intact, give Slaughter Night a chance.
Very underrated and very good slasher. I loved it.
