About what I expected. Skyscraper may be paying homage to such films as Die Hard (1988) & The Towering Inferno (1974), but this movie is lacking in plot and even The Rock can't save this one. Will Sawyer (Dwayne Johnson) is a security expert that certifies skyscrapers for safety.
He flies out to Hong Kong to meet Zhao Long Ji (Chin Han) an extremely wealthy Chinese man who has built the tallest skyscraper in Hong Kong. There he is ambushed after an initial inspection that leads a group of criminals to break into the skyscraper and begin destroying it.
Meanwhile, Will's wife Sarah (Neve Campbell) and his two kids are trapped in the building. It's up to Will to break into the towering inferno save his family and figure out why these mysterious men are bringing about all this destruction.
The movie's plot is super simple and even when you find out the "twist" it's super predictable and doesn't add anything to the movie. I enjoyed the action for the most part, but even for a movie that is only 1 hour and 33 minutes long it seems like it drags at times.
It's super over the top and very unrealistic as well, but hey it has Dwayne Johnson being himself here again...kinda. Johnson isn't very relatable or likeable in this one. I never cared about what was going on and overall he doesn't even say much.
The movie also has some downright atrocious CGi and green screen that's very noticeable. I found myself entertained mindlessly for the most part here though and would recommend giving this one a rental at the very least if the trailers look interesting to ya.
