What was to be expected? It's Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and friends in a giant skyscraper that is literally called The Pearl.

Skyscraper is a disappointing waste of hard earned money. I went to see this at a matinee, so I'm good. The movie is still pretty bad, having very few redeeming qualities. The movie seems pretty fake and production seems rushed. What is left for us is a pretty major waste of money. I gave this movie low expectations and it barely managed to meet them, having me think that my consensus would be about 8 or more, but you'll see my overall consensus later in this review. Though about nothing unexpected happens in this movie, this review will stay spoiler-free.

5/10 points go to the ACTING category. The acting is pretty disappointing, with the only decent performance being given by "The Rock." The kids are about horrible, and barely seem like they give a crap about anything. There's a scene where one of them is panicking and they have to risk their lives to live, but the other one, who's also a bit scared, acts like it is totally natural. "The Rock", who I'll just call Dwayne Johnson, is decent. There is a part where he and another actor have a plan, but he doesn't sell it if something really was or wasn't part of the plan. The mom is pretty good for the first 1/2 of the film. She then stops caring. About everyone is amazing in the first 1/2, except the kids.

7/15 points go to the WRITING category. Everything is convenient for our characters in this movie. There's a part where fire just makes way for our characters, and lots of stuff breaks for no reason. Also, Dwayne Johnson's character is so poorly written. At least the bad guys or whoever they are have a reason to do what they do. A whole plot line is Dwayne Johnson just messing around. The final act was also poorly written. Many characters also decide to switch between good and bad every other scene. There's also a character who appears to get something and then does nothing whatsoever for the rest of the film. A character also gets stabbed in the heart and it doesn't effect anything for the rest of the movie.

6/10 points go to the VISUAL EFFECTS category. The effects look good for the most part. The final 30 minutes of the movie look so fake. The effects for the final 30 minutes are so bad that even "The Rock" looks fake.

2/10 points go to the CHARACTERS category. We learn nothing of importance whatsoever about the characters at all. We only see one scene of backstory for Dwayne Johnson and we get a bit of explanation for the bad guys. We know about nothing else about the characters.

1/5 points goes to the DEVELOPMENT category. About nothing happens in this movie. The movie actually sets up for a possible Skyscraper 2: 100 Stories Higher. That isn't a real thing for now, but it has a high chance of happening. In all seriousness, all that happens is that about 125 people are killed, a building gets destroyed, and a few people get arrested.

0/5 points goes to the ORIGINAL SCORE category. The score is below basic, it isn't used at the right time, and it is still pretty disappointing. But it's Skyscraper, what should I expect?

3/5 points goes to the DESIGN category. The designs are cool, especially in The Pearl. There are close to no design flaws in the building, besides the bad security. The problem is that the makeup and costumes seem a bit inconsistent. I don't even know if some designs stay throughout the film. The rest is on the average side.

8/10 points goes to the DIRECTION category. The direction is well done. They choreographed the fight sequences well. The only bad thing is one of the major reveals through a fight sequence. It features Dwayne Johnson and a white guy fighting. It isn't done that well.

5/10 points go to the AUDIO AND VISUAL QUALITY category. The effects are pretty bad, the music is bad, and there is a terrible fight sequence which is terrible. The fight sequence sets up for a medium sized reveal. There is no music whatsoever. It stinks. The movie also gets noticeably quiet or loud at many points in the film.

10/20 points go to the MY OVERALL CONSENSUS category. I had low expectations, they met them and went a slight big higher. The movie is still pretty meh, and I would recommend that you go to a cheaper showing, like a matinee or low priced ticket day.
