Review of Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (2004) by Adrian M — 24 Dec 2009

I just watched Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow again on Blu-ray. I do love this movie. It's very pretty and extravagantly stylish. It revels in its alternate-1939 retro look and feel. It's not the most profound plot and the acting is a bit stylized in the vein of the old serials.

At the time it was revolutionary for the way it combined live action and CGI. Even though that techological novelty has worn off, I still think it stands up quite well because of the unique vision and the elaborate details of the design.
