Review of Sixteen Candles (1984) by Nik K — 27 Mar 2011
For some reason lately i've been watching 80's teen movies...
Don't know why, I just do...
And this one were...
Certainly not as good as "the breakfast club" but not every John Hughes film can be a masterpiece (let us not forget that that is the man who also raped us with "maid in Manhattan" and "homa alone 3"...bleh).
I really enjoy the fact that his story has a duration of just a few days or hours.
I really like this feature of his, it humanizes the characters and gives an earthly glow to the movie...
Except the fact that Molly Wringwald was... well... fantastic, I wanted to punch Anthony Michael Hall in the face -so he completed his task- and Michael Schoeffling was more blant than over-cooked rice (why did they cast him again?)...
All in all, a movie to remind us of times when teen flicks had some kind of passion and thruthfulness.
