Review of Six Degrees of Separation (1993) by Edward B — 09 Feb 2008
The first time I saw this movie (on my own), I think I enjoyed it because the lives that the Kitteridges were involved in...I needed to see it a second time just a wrap my head around what is one of the heaviest, meatiest dialogues I've ever seen in a movie.
..some of the lines are gems, the timing of the interceding comments from all concerned, whether its Will Smith, a bellhop, the children are priceless, and Paul's explanation of his thesis is inspirational.
....the anecdote "About the Boy" builds on itself, feeds on itself, and has a cute innocence to it until something goes horribly wrong, and Paul has to face up to his problems...I wish this movie never ended.
..my only regret with this movie is the way in which it ends...with Paul in the window, or so Ouisa hopes, as she walks out in disdain on Flanders...
