Review of Six Degrees of Separation (1993) by Anita H — 21 Sep 2012
This is my favorite movie of all time. If there is one movie that should be viewed before judging Will Smith's acting ability, this is the film. Not Ali. This film. Will Smith is the villain; however, he is also believable, heartbreaking, endearing, and sympathetic.
Will Smith's character (Paul, but that's just an assumed identity and the audience is never really sure who Paul is, where he's from, or what happens to him) is enthralled by the notion of meeting New York socialites, using false degrees of separation to appear harmless, just a friend-of-a-friend's friend.
There is much going on in this movie, as all the characters are flawed; and each deserves analysis. So, I recommend you watch the movie. Once. Twice. Three times. And, be prepared to be amazed by Will Smith.
