Review of Sita Sings the Blues (2008) by David Z — 27 Dec 2009
It's an Indian fable called Ramayana and it has a twist, the protagonist sings 1920's jazz! You can tell right off, that this will be Americanized, but the animation is charming, funny, and tells about the conflict of love appropriately.
With a string of parallels, I was fascinated how the different stories intertwine, while being treated with my eyes with the visuals. Although the animation is not as "refined" or 3D, it just goes to show you're in no need of such in your face technological experience.
Watch this movie, it's on Youtube.
