Review of Sita Sings the Blues (2008) by Chris D — 24 Jun 2010
Just plain incredible: charming story, excellent musical numbers, and the animation is really amazing. I couldn't believe this was a solo effort by one (very determined) woman to connect her own relationship experience to an ancient Indian text. Sita is a really warm and sympathetic character, who's relationships are very tragic in their inevitability. Sita is a woman who just wants to love her man unconditionally and spend her life with him, but circumstances (and the man himself) get in the way of that wish.
I couldn't recommend the movie more: it really sucks you in, and dazzles you with its simple, yet gorgeous, graphics.
