Review of Sisters (2015) by Kj P — 22 Jan 2016
"Sisters" once again showcases the talents of the comedy duo Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, and while they are pretty much great or watchable in anything they do, vulgarity for the sake of vulgarity will just become annoying.
This film follows two sisters as their parents are about to sell their childhood home. Against their better interest, they meet up to clean out their room together. Deciding to throw one last party, the film becomes an elderly version of "Animal House," but less funny and less interesting.
With very few jokes that hit, this film feels like a huge missed opportunity for these two superstars. "Sisters" is lazily written and poorly directed, making for a sloppy comedy that only hits periodically.
Profanity and dick jokes are the talk of the town throughout this picture, and those become very tiresome, very quickly. In the end, did I have a nice time watching this film and enjoying it's message at the end? Yes, but that is about all I enjoyed it for.
I will not remember this film in years to come, so I simply cannot recommend it. It has it's moments, but it is ultimately forgettable.
