Review of Sisters (1973) by John M — 31 Oct 2008
Margot Kidder and Jennifer Salt shared a beachfront bungalo where Brian DePalma (who was dating Kidder) would hang out with many of his buddies (including Spielberg) during the early 1970s. When he cast his first horror movie, DePalma chose to give lead roles to Kidder and Salt and presented them the scripts as a Christmas present when he wrangled the funding to make SISTERS.
The film's plot may seem to be a bit of a rip-off of REAR WINDOW but it is one of DePalma's best Hitchcock send-ups (ala Godard) and is a very suspenceful and well-made horror film.
