Review of Single White Female (1992) by Dan M — 27 May 2013
This movie which I guess is based upon a book is about a women who finds out her boyfriend cheated on her with his ex wife. She puts an add in the paper to share her apartment with another female because she does not want to be alone.
She ends up with hedie who we learn has a somewhat dark past and as soon as Allie gets back together with her boyfriend hedie learns shes going to be kicked out and doesn't like to be alone and does what she can to prevent that even if it means doing whatever it takes.
This is a pretty good edge of your seat thriller with top notch performances from both Bridget Fonda and Jennifer Jason Leigh. I thought the movie had an interesting concept. You kinda of feel for both characters because they pretty much have the same problem of not wanting to be all alone and wanting someone to be with them.
Both characters are vulnerable with that. Though killing someone's not the answer. You kinda feel bad for hedie because Allie treated her like a friend and then as soon as she got back with her boyfriend she kinda treated hedie like she was a pest.
I'm not anti gay bashing but I'm wondering if there was a little lesbian love between the two because you kinda of get that feeling with a few scenes. And there is a lot of nudity scenes too. I enjoyed this movie.
I thought the story had a good concept and it was performed brilliantly with great acting. It was also a good thriller movie too.
