Review of Singin' in the Rain (1952) by Ali S — 15 Mar 2011
I loved it! Absolutely loved it. It took me forever to reach the end because I kept rewatching the musical numbers. My favourite was Good Mornin' followed by Singin' in the Rain. It dare you to watch it and not want to take up tap dancing.
I thought all the actors were perfect fits for their roles. Debbie Reynolds has such a fresh and wonderful face. Her character is sassy and strong. Donald O'Connor is fantastic as the comedic sidekick. He is what slapstick should be. And Gene Kelly was obviously born to play this part. Even the supporting actors were well-suited like Jean Hagen and Millard Mitchell.
I loved the costumes. If you want to see classic Hollywood style, this is the place.
Lastly, it was just so much fun to watch this film. I absolutlely love when the movie-watching experience should make you giddy with delight. That is truly a rare but amazing experience. Thank you Singin' in the Rain for doing that to me.
