Review of Singin' in the Rain (1952) by Andreas O — 02 May 2011
The musical of musicals. Cute movie about making movies in the days of transition into sound film, with a naive and uplifting tone. Sure, the song-and-dance numbers make little sense even in context - or, perhaps, especially not in context - but the joyfulness of the whole production is just so damn likable.
One of those movies that could hardly get away with today, but that were perfect for their time.
