Review of Singin' in the Rain (1952) by Luz A — 13 Jan 2012
I was expecting this film to be overrated but I was pleasantly surprised. Gene Kelly is particularly magnificent. His talent is unmatched and his star quality that made him one of the most famous stars of the Golden Era is evident here.
The musical numbers are legendary and deserve the hype and reputation they have garnered and the same can be said for the film itself. The film is so powerful, especially the ending (which literally caused me to leap out of my seat), and every scene is a spectacle to behold.
This truly is an American masterpiece.
