Review of Singapore Dreaming (2006) by Faruk A — 05 Dec 2007
After all that hype about it being THE film that all Singaporeans should watch, SINGAPORE DREAMING is just another letdown. The film seems to tend towards Realism--a depiction of the Singaporean way of life rather than a commentary per se.
It was not as depressing as other viewers made it out to be unlike Khoo's 12 STOREYS. In the end, it had (not again!) a feel-good ending, with the bad getting what they deserved and the hard-working finally getting what they should.
What's so ground-breaking about that?
