Review of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (2014) by Matthew F. J — 09 Oct 2014
A sequel to the original that still look and sound pretty amazing but lost itself in a very mellow story and never feels like it reaches it's climax. Everyone is exactly doing what they are supposed to do and this sinks the film into a pretty obvious lack of originality and scrip writing.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt get some shinny moments, so does Mickey Rourke, but overall it plays like a tired old black and white drama with a serious lack of depth. Visually appealing but once the effects are gone, only remain a vacuous script and some sad characters.
too bad the film didn't manage to capture what the first one was all about.
