A prequel/sequel to a great graphic novel adaptation comes nine years later, was it worth the wait? Well here's the thing.... Whilst this movie is crammed with awesome visuals and great source material, it lacks certain characteristics of the first one.

The change of pace is namely a primary factor in this movie, partially because it feels that everything is rushed into an hour and a half, which covers 3 stories. Granted it does what it suggests in this continuation to largely fill in unanswered questions and plot lines relevant to the first movie whilst throwing in there new aspects but this leads me to my second point which is change of actors.

I was surprised by how many actors were changed to be honest, granted Britney Murphy and Michael Duncan are dead now (may god rest their souls) but replacing Clive Owen and Devon Aoki seems a tad bit odd.

... as did the quite frankly bizarre cameos from Frank Miller, Robert Rodriguez and Lady Gaga, also noted was the "include me for no reason" returning character of Jaimie King. All in all if you watched this before the first one then you may think this is possibly one of the coolest flicks in the last few years but I would suggest watching the first movie to see how each storyline is factored in to a feature length film ala la Pulp Fiction.
