Review of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (2014) by Howard H — 24 Nov 2014
Clearly Robert Rodriguez has not been able to capture the incredibly comical yet dark feel of the previous installment. Many of the action sequences seem too digitally made, it pulls you out of the movie at certain times.
Letting that aside however, I like how this time around its a more cohesive plot line instead of random stories stitched together. I really started understanding and relating to the life in 'Sin City'.
There have been quite interesting characters in this sequel and I would definitely love to have seen more of them in this film such as JGL's role in the movie. Sadly a lot of excessive screen time has been given to Marv played by Mickey Rourke.
Accepted he's an interesting character, but it just feels they were playing it a bit safe this time around. Overall, it was still a great watch mainly due to the characteristic cinematography. I'd love to see further extensions of Sin City.
