I loved the first Sin City, and it's just not the same. You absolutely can't watch this one without having at least seen the first one, as it's a continuation and pretty much just picks up where the other left off.
The cinematography of the first I feel was better. They use more color, and actually have the colors have a little more meaning in the first film. I'm sure I'll watch it again, but it just isn't the same.
