Review of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (2014) by Tim K — 25 Jan 2015
Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller re-team after a nine-year wait in another anthology movie adaptation of Miller's "Sin City" comics. This time around it is okay, but because we've already visited this world in cinema it doesn't feel as unique, or fresh.
It also lacks the same energy of the first film, and feels a little lackluster in places. It still looks good, it still has decent performances...but something is clearly missing from the proceedings.
I enjoyed it here and there, but if you saw the first film you pretty much saw this film done much, much better...and a lot more fun. Watch the first movie, you'll have fun and it is still kind of a unique experience (despite a few imitators), if you really love it and really want to revisit that world, this is decent, but not nearly as special.
