This movie I think suffered in the box office because of the gap of coming out 9 years after the original Sin City (2005). Obviously, there was a huge gap in years so after the success and cult following of the first film there was a bit of waning and people losing interest.

As a huge fan of the first film I was disappointed in this one. Visually it looks just as good as the first one, but its definitely a forgettable film and doesn't pack the punch like the first movie.

The film is basically split into four stories. "Just Another Saturday Night," is about Marv (Mickey Rourke) retelling a story of how he ended up in a police car bleeding. It's over the top action and fun, but really is kind of a rehash of the same old story from the first film.

The second and in my opinion best story is "The Long Bad Night," which stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Johnny, a gambler that never loses. He enters a high stakes poker game with the corrupt Senator Roark (Powers Boothe), but gets in over his head.

It's well acted and features a great cameo by Christopher Lloyd playing a mad doctor. The next story is, "A Dame To KIll For," which in my opinion misses its mark one too many times. First off it takes place years before the first film, but this is never told at all you have to kind of figure it out yourself which is super misleading! Dwight (Josh Brolin.

..who plays the character this time around 9 years ago it was Clive Owen who I thought did a better job) is a freelance detective that runs into an old flame named Ava (Eva Green in probably the sexiest role I've ever seen her in trust me).

Ava is running away from her supposedly abusive rich husband Damian Lord (Marton Csokas) and is constantly being spied upon by her chauffeur Manute (Dennis Haysbert...the role was originally played by Michael Clarke Duncan in the first film, but he sadly passed away a few years ago).

There are a lot of great shots in this story and it does feature a small appearance by Gail (Rosario Dawson), but it has such a super dumb plot to it and there's a twist thats very apparent early on.

The final story and worst one in my opinion is, "Nancy's Last Dance." Nancy (Jessica Alba) has been living the last four years vowing to avenge Hartigan's (Bruce Willis) death by killing Senator Roark.

She employs the hep of Marv and they storm Roark's mansion seeking revenge. Super unnecessary story. The first film ended the whole sequence great and this kind of just ruins Nancy's character.

Bruce Willis shows up as a ghost for all of 14 seconds. It feels like they included him and Alba as top billing just to get more advertising. It obviously didn't work. Overall, this movie was a big miss.

It's a fun little comic book adaptation, but as a fan of the original I can almost bet I'll never see this one again. It's a rent if you're interested, but if not just watch the first film and pretend this one never came out!
