Review of Sin City (2005) by Brian C — 02 Feb 2013
Nothing deep or life-affirming about this one. It doesn't need it. It's perfect the way it is. Every shot is eye-poppingly beautiful. The acting, even at its most hammy, fits perfectly with what it's going for.
And there are few things more satisfying than watching horrible people get what's coming to them, and Sin City delivers that to an extent so violent and shameless that it could put off many. Also, the comics are masterpieces in themselves and this film recreates them as faithfully as any adaptation of anything.
For fans of comics, film-noir, wall-to-wall violence and action, and pure gorgeous eye candy, you can't do any wrong with this, especially with a group of equally fun-loving friends, beer, and pizza.
The morally righteous and squeamish shouldn't even have made it this far into this short review.
