Review of Simple Men (1992) by Karl S — 01 Sep 2007
Poetic in its style and innovative in it's approach. 'Simple Men' has actors that seem to be just reading the lines of the page and filmic moments that can be only described as 'awkard'.
I dont think I have seen a film that was unique in every direction, mise en cine, lighthing, acting, etc. This is my first Hal Hartley film and I really want to see more after this one. I was also suprised that Hartley had a character quoting Malesta at the end!!!
