Review of Simon of the Desert (1965) by Daniel S — 02 Oct 2010
One of the more difficult of bunuels films to interpret/make sense of, but I feel, as also is the case with bunuels other films dealing with religion, is that bunuel aims to criticize and ridicule people and their foolish ways and their misinterpretations of God's word and the Bible, rather than God himself, its certainly the case here with all the characters, even Simon himself, as they are ungrateful, misguided and foolish, proves Bunuel can make a good film in only 45 mins, and has much more to offer than some films 2.
5 hours in length.
