Review of Silver Hawk (2004) by Bryan G — 03 Nov 2005

[font=Courier New]This movie is dumb. There, I said it. While I am giving it a fresh rating, I must admit that I probably won?t ever take the time to see it again. Unless it is on television, and I have nothing else to watch. Having said that, here is my review for [i]Silver Hawk[/i].

Michelle Yeoh, who I consider to be one of the most beautiful women in the world and a great actress when she is in the right movie, plays Lulu Wong. She is a former student of a martial arts school, who was removed because she beat up all the kids who threatened her. But she wasn?t taken away from schooling. She was sent to learn from some sort of master, who helped her control her skills.

Flash forward to her adult life, and now she lives the double life of a supermodel and superhero. And she is one of the only things that can stop and evil millionaire from mind controlling something or another. Okay, so I didn?t really pay too much attention to the story. It was bad. Really bad!

But the action was pretty good. And I have always said that good action can make up for a terrible story. I?ve always admired Michelle Yeoh?s martial arts skill, though [i]Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon[/i] is a better representation of it. While a lot of the action can seem tame at times, it is still kooky enough that it works. Sort of like [i]Infra Man[/i], only not as classic.

Sorry this review is really bad. I?m sorry that I put you through it. This movie isn?t perfect, but I like it. This isn?t going to be a movie that anyone will be able to pick up and enjoy. But fans of the old campy sci-fi martial arts films should enjoy it for what it?s worth. But this is certainly only worth a rental. [/font].
