Review of Silent Running (1972) by Denver F — 16 Feb 2008
Confusing prequel to "cool runnings". Bruce Dern stars as a space hippy entasked with keeping alive earth's last surviving stash of weed. With only a trio of oversized 60's style calculators to call friends (think R2D2 but with no charisma) he struggles to stay awake faced with the endless boredom of empty space.
It all adds up to a mind-numbing cinematic experience.
