Review of Silent Running (1972) by Ash B — 05 Jun 2008
Cult classic 70's Sci-Fi with a strong ecological message at its heart. Leisurely paced and lacking somewhat dramatically, the film's charm wins through.
The film also benefits from a commited performance from Bruce Dern and an unusual score. Sadly the themes of ecological disaster the movie explores are as relevant, if not more so than they were 36 years ago and the final heartbreaking image should insure only the hardest of viewers are failed to be moved.
