Silent Running is an exceptional movie.
While today's directors and movie studios seem to be falling all over themselves in a mad rush to create ecologically relevant movies (generally with disasterous results, i.e. The Day the Earth Stood Still and The Day After Tomorrow), Silent Running did it perfectly back in 1971.
