Environmental conservationism... in space! The protagonist is an astronaut who takes care of artificial forests on a space station with the help of some pre-wall-E looking robots. He is also a hippie and a bit of a psychopathic greenie nut-job.
Its obscure in a way that only those good old 70s/80s movies could be.
