Review of Silent Rage (1982) by Ryan Z — 08 Jan 2009
So this ugly retarded man, living in a house with a bunch of shitty little kids and a bitchy mother freaks out and does some axin.' He's shot by some Texas cops and taken to a nerdy brood of docs led by Ron "The Beard" Silver and the whiny son-in-law from Death Wish. They give him some red liquid that makes him indestructible. In the meantime, Chuck occasionally delivers some monotone lines, bangs Silver's annoying sister (who shows her boobs no less than four times), and gets into a bar brawl with a dozen generic bikers...which has nothing at all to do with the story. Did I mention Flounder? Yeah he's in this, being fat and failing at comedy. He gets his back broken by the killer, and it was a relief. It takes nearly the entire running time of the movie before Chuck and the killer fight...and it's a disappointing battle. There are a few slow-motion roundhouse kicks, but nothing like the fight we see later in Code of Silence.
Overall, this is a weaker Norris movie, though it could have been spetacular if the killer had gotten loose earlier and Chuck had more to do. I struggled to get through it.
